One Blue Wall

What is One Blue Wall?

One Blue Wall is a literary magazine, which means a compilation of students’ creative work ranging from photography, to fiction, to poems, and more. For years, One Blue Wall has not been at the forefront of our school’s publications, but the 2011-2012 edition marks the official revamp. We will be presenting a well designed, in-color magazine that will showcase the best of the best in our school’s literary and artistic accomplishments.

How do I submit?

The submittal form is on the bottom of this page. Please fill out all required information. If you wish to remain anonymous, in the name section just put “Anonymous.” If you have any questions or concerns, such as you are not able to send it in online, or you have an art piece that you are unsure how to take a good picture of, then please email: Onebluewall2012@hotmail.com, and we will be sure to get you squared away!

What kind of work are you taking?

Here is the list of work that will be considered for One Blue Wall:

FICTION

Short Stories (Can be any length, but we will only be taking one or two pieces that are over 7-8,000 words. If we receive multiple, your piece is not selected, and you only submitted that one – you may shorten it or submit new work)

Flash Fiction (Try to keep these under 3,000 words)

      Monologues

      Scripts/Screenplays

Any other types of fiction that don’t fall into these categories are       fine.

POEMS

LYRICS (If you are a YPAS student, and you’d like to submit a music sheet along with lyrics, please do!)

PHOTOGRAPHY

ART

OTHER (Editorials, essays, etc.)

If you are concerned about whether or not your work falls under any of these categories, submit anyways, or email at onebluewall2012@hotmail.com, and we will let you know!

You may submit more than one piece.

When do submissions end?

For 2011–2012 school year: January 1, 2012

How selective is One Blue Wall?

In past years, we have still had to turn away many pieces because there simply isn’t enough room. This year, we will have to be even more selective because we will be designing the entire magazine. This means the honor behind being chosen will be greater, and you will have to submit your absolute best work. Make sure you include your email so we can contact you if you get accepted, or so that we can ask any further questions we may have.

Why should I submit?

First of all, it’s always rewarding to get your personal work appreciated. This is your chance to showcase just how much talent and creativity you have, without worrying about receiving grades on the side. Also, if you are accepted, you will be able to say you have been formally published, which looks fantastic on a college application (especially if it is in a Manual High School publication).

When will One Blue Wall be published?

Just like the yearbook, we hope to have copies up for sale before the end of the school year. A more specific date will be released later on.

We can’t wait to see your work. Be sure to submit as quickly as possible!

Sincerely yours,

Sadie Birchfield (Editor-in-Chief)
