On April 16, the Winner’s Circle Robo Jockeys (WCRJ) hosted Engineering for the Greater Good, a conference promoting STEM careers, at the J.B. Speed School of Engineering. The members of the WCRJ, a robotics team comprising engineers from the University of Louisville (UofL) and a variety of high schools, organized the event to attract women and young adults to the field of engineering.

The conference began with a series of speakers including three UofL professors and Louisville Metro Council member Angela Leet.

Many of the speakers, including University of Louisville professor Gina Bertocci who designed one of the first canine wheelchairs, advocated for STEM careers because of engineers’ potential to improve the quality of life.
