10th Annual Victorian Ghost Walk

Central Park in Old Louisville, between fourth and sixth street

7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., $20 in advance, $25 at the event

This fundraising event runs from Oct. 17 to Oct. 19. The ghost walk gives patrons the opportunity to tour Old Louisville, an an area of Louisville which Haunted America Tours named “America’s Most Haunted Neighborhood.” Tours leave every 15 minutes. The duration of each tour will last between ninety minutes and two hours. All proceeds will go to the Old Louisville Information Center in Central Park.

 

Literally, a Haunted House

Culbertson Mansion – 914 East Main Street, New Albany, IN

7:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m., $14

2014 marks the 30th year that the Culbertson Mansion will be hosting a haunted house. The money raised goes to restoration efforts of the Culbertson Mansion. Over 100 volunteers work for majority of the year to organize Literally, a Haunted House. Be aware of their “Words of Warning” concerning pregnant women, youth and others on the tour.

 

Louisville’s Centennial Festival of Riverboats Celebrating the Belle’s 100th Birthday

This event runs from Oct. 14 to Oct. 19. Riverboats will come from all over the United States in celebration of the historic Belle of Louisville’s 100th anniversary. Events during the festival include riverboat races, contests, a balloon glow  and free live music. This is an important event because the Belle of Louisville is the oldest Mississippi-style steamboat on earth, as well as an iconic symbol of Louisville.

 

KentuckyOne Health Four De Lis Races Fall Run

Jefferson Memorial Forest – 12304 Holsclaw Hill Rd.

8:00 a.m., Free

The main event will be a 5K race. This will be the third race in the Four De Lis Series. Three other races for kids will also run at a variety of distances based on age. The top three male and female participants will be awarded.

 

2nd Annual Pinktober

Beauty First- 4600 Shelbyville Rd.

10 a.m-3 p.m., Prices vary

Norton Healthcare Centers for Prevention and Wellness Mobile Prevention Center will provide mammograms at this event with a scheduled appointment (502-899-63842). Beauty First will also be hosting a Cut-a-Thon. All proceeds will be go to the Norton Healthcare Foundation. Hair cuts will be $15 and brow waxes will be $5. Participants will receive a 20% discount off merchandise.

 

CASA Superhero 5k Walk/Run

Wendell Moore Park, 1551 N. Highway 393, La Grange, KY

2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., $30 for adults, $15 for children under 17

Participants can dress in superhero costumes to support children that have been abused. The money raised from the run benefits Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). A bouncy castle as well as other activities will be at the event. Prizes will be given to the best adult costume, child costume and family costume.

 

Los Angeles Piano Quartet

Comstock Hall at the UofL School of Music

3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., $25, $5 for students under 25, Free admission for UofL students (ID)

The Los Angeles Piano Quartet will be performing work by Beethoven, Brahms and Christopher Stark.  Stark will be in Rm. 130 at 2:00 p.m. before the concert to discuss his work.
