Manual’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony held Sunday

The duPont Manual Hall of Fame introduced ten new people at its induction ceremony on Sunday, April 13, at the University Club and Alumni Center at the University of Louisville.

The DuPont Manual Alumni Association organized the event.

Manual’s Hall of Fame first began in 1994, and has since then recognized dozens of Manual alumni whom the association believes have “worn the colors of Manual out in the real world.”

Additionally, the Hall of Fame includes several individuals who, although not having attended Manual as students, have had long-term connections to the school and who have left their lasting mark on the school, such as teachers, coaches, or principals.

Such alumni include Senator Mitch McConnell (‘60), football and track all-star Sherman Lewis (‘60), and Jones Plastic and Engineering Corp. co-founders and twins Harry and Larry Jones (‘48).

Alumni Director Michael McDaniel (‘64) oversaw the organization for the event, and he sees much importance in having a Hall of Fame for the school.

“It’s a big part of our heritage, and I think it’s very important for today’s students to see where we have come from as a school and as a family,” said McDaniel. “And one of our big purposes for having the alumni association is to carry on Manual’s traditions.”

This year’s hall of fame class had ten alumni:
