Volunteering opportunities

Blackacre Conservancy
Calling all green thumbed students age eighteen years or over, you can volunteer as a naturalist at the Blackacre Conservancy today. The job entails leading group walks through the conservancy and identifying various trees, plants, birds and amphibians to visitors. The only prerequisite is that you have prior knowledge of nature, so get to studying. If interested, contact Lydia Kowalski at 502-266-9802.

American Red Cross
American Red Cross is in need of friendly people who enjoy speaking with others on the phone to join the Donor Telerecruitment volunteer team. The job requires volunteers to make phone calls to previous donors in order to remind them of upcoming blood drives. The spot is open to people of all ages and the hours are from 10am-3pm, but the schedule can be very flexible depending on your needs. If interested, call Paul Beede at 502-561-3770.

Americana Community Center
Americana Community Fiberworks program sets out to help immigrant women who are in need of financial aid and a greater knowledge of the English language. Women are taught the English while working on fiber arts in which they sell for money when finished. Since attention plays such a vital role in this class, Fiberwork Childcare Volunteers are needed to babysit children of the women. Students of all ages can work on Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. If interested, contact Rachel Slaughter at 502-366-7813.
